6x Upholstered in blue Velvet, Seat Side Chair by Eero Saarinen for Knoll 1970
Set of 6 Eero Saarinen “Tulip” / Pedestal Dining Chairs for Knoll International, 1970s A rare and elegant set of six original “Tulip” (Pedestal) dining chairs designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll International, dating from the 1970s. Produced under license in Switzerland, these chairs perfectly embody Saarinen’s vision of fluid, modern forms free from visual clutter. Each chair features the iconic molded white fiberglass shell, seamlessly supported by a cast aluminum pedestal base. The bases are marked. The chairs have been professionally re-upholstered in premium Kvadrat Gentle 2 fabric (color 783) — a high-end wool textile with a retail value of approximately €295 per meter. The upholstery covers both the seat cushions and inner shells, giving the chairs a refined and contemporary appearance while preserving their original design integrity. Condition: In excellent vintage condition. Professionally re-upholstered and ready for use. Minor signs of wear and light surface scratches to the bases consistent with age, difficult to notice in normal use. Originally produced in Switzerland in the 1970s under licensed Knoll International production. These iconic chairs remain highly sought after and are still in production today, with a current retail price of approximately €2,500 per chair. A timeless and sophisticated set, perfectly suited for both modern and classic interiors. A matching dining table is also available separately.
