Dutch President Desk by Cees Braakman for Ums Pastoe, 1958

This EU01 president desk was designed by Cees Braakman in 1958 as part of the Japanese Series, and was produced by Pastoe in the Netherlands. The Japanese series is characterized by the lack of rounding in its design; all outside lines are clean and angular, and there are no decorative elements. The wooden drawer boxes often have a floating appearance thanks to the minimal looking black metal base. This particular desk features a teak top with a steel frame, signature bent birch-plywood inside drawers, and moulded acrylic drawer pulls. The desk includes a key and central locking system, to lock all drawers at once.
