Rare brass edition Sciolari cubic chandelier, 17 lights, 1970`s Italy

This impressive vintage chandelier, model 637, was designed by Gaetano Sciolari for Lightolier Lighting and is documented in the company’s 1976 catalogue. A striking example of late modernist design with pronounced Brutalist and avant-garde influences, the piece remains as bold and contemporary today as at the time of its creation. The chandelier features a high-quality polished brass and brushed steel frame composed of 17 cubic rectangular elements, connected by sculptural arches. Four arms extend from the central structure, each carrying staggered cuboid light elements at varying heights. An additional light is positioned beneath the central column, bringing the total to 17 light points. Each cuboid is fitted with a removable textured clear Lucite shade, allowing easy access for bulb replacement. The chandelier accommodates 17 E14 bulbs (max. 40W each) and is currently fitted with 5W bulbs, creating a warm and architectural light effect. The original square-section brass suspension rod and decorative square ceiling canopy are present, both contributing to the lamp’s distinctly industrial character. The rod features an adjustable screw mechanism to ensure the chandelier hangs perfectly level, even on angled ceilings. The rod can be removed or replaced with a longer or shorter version if required, and allows for compact transport. All Lucite shades are in excellent condition, and the brass and steel structure is exceptionally well preserved. Please contact us for the most suitable shipping options and pricing.
